John Sutter: I think it'd be helpful if we sort of framed the podcast. So, you know, one thing that we're focused on here at ARK is the idea of CRISPR-I and some of these other tools that we're seeing come out for drug discovery. It takes about 10 years to create a drug; preclinical costs could account for about 40% of costs in clinical development. And so let's spend a little bit of time talking about the drug and drug discovery.

We are very excited to be joined today by one of the world’s leaders in scientific and biological research, Dr. Jonathan Weissman. After a breakdown of Jonathan’s professional background, we dive into CRISPR and how the genetic engineering tool can be used for drug development, disease discovery, and as a therapeutic treatment of its own.
