You should treat any opportunity for conversation as an opportunity to sift a little bit of gold out of the sand and see if you can add it to your collection. Do you really want people to tell you the truth? The answer to that should be yes, especially if your life is characterized by a tremendous number of falsehoods. You cannot speak before you can point, because a word is a pointer to something of value. But even more importantly, it's a point or two, a way of being that's valuable.
