The head of portugal's health authority told royders that one thousand 63 excess deaths due to the heat wave were recorded from july seventh through the eighteenth. Carlos antunez, a researcher at lisbon university's faculty of sciences, said the data showed the elderly were most likely to die due to heat waves.
