The Mystery of Milk Sickness

The disease was once alarmingly prevalent in certain isolated districts of Illinois. Whole villages were depopulated, and though the mystery was often and thoroughly investigated, the cause of the disease was never discovered. Some people might have identified the right plant. Anna Pierce Hobbes discovery reportedly made in about 1834 will have more on that later in 1838 a farmer named john row published an article saying that white snake root was the cause of trembles. The disease appears now to be vanishing.
