The Impact Rate From Lunar Impact Craters
We shouldn't change our thinking at all yet, but what we should do is be considering these kind of impacts that, let's say like a kilometer wide asteroid or comet hits the earth, maybe every 600,000 to 700,000 years. These are not dinosaur killing type impacts, but they are like seriously mess up the area around where they hit. They could cause local extinctions for animals that are continent restricted. The researchers themselves say we have to go into the field and show that this is true. This is not something you just make drawing a circle on a map.
