Darryl Davis says he was stunned when a member of the Ku Klux Klan said black people are born with a gene that makes them violent. "I could tell that the gears in his head were spinning super fast, but you know, burning a hole in there," Darryl recalls. Within five months, this guy quit the KKK and went on to become a blues musician.
We’re revisiting some of our listeners’ favorite episodes this summer. We kick off the series with our first ever episode: A conversation with the Black jazz musician Daryl Davis. During a performance, a member of the KKK approached him at a bar and his life took an unexpected turn. He ended up inspiring hundreds of people to leave white supremacist groups.
