Motivation is fickle and it fluctuates every day. You can sometimes generate motivation, I'm not going to say that it never works. But other times you won't be motivated to motivate yourself if that makes sense. And so there are times when you'll lose the battle before it's begun because you don't even care to get motivated. However, with the mini habit strategy that is based around minimizing the willpower cost of action,. So it costs a lot less willpower to make yourself do one push up than to do a hundred pushups. Small steps are the best way to utilize your willpower. It's the best return on investment.
