Historiansplaining: A historian tells you why everything you know is wrong
The Story of Arthur and the Plantagenets
After monmouth wrote history of the kings of britain, another fairly mysterious poet called wase translated them for the first time into a form of french. And he also adds and elaborates on the story of arthur and expands it even beyond what geoffrey of monmouth had said. So this is the first time that an extended story about arthur as a king is put into a vernacular language that many people can read and hear and recite. And it becomes very popular. It's not surprising that eventually it would make its way and be celebrated and repeated by important people at the plantagenet royal court.
