The Wright Brothers and the Wright Flyer
The Wright Brothers are two bicycle mechanics from Dayton, Ohio. They spend months practising with gliders in North Carolina every summer. And they don't even try and put an engine on their gliders for four years. But then over the next few years, they get up to the point where they can fly five miles around in a circle. It's not a trivial question - how do you steer an airplane? How do you turn right or left?
