Pornography has plots, even if it doesn't seem like it. And those plots lead you to specific expectations about what will and will not happen. I think of plot as a net that reaches toward a topic more than some kind of invasion of something unwelcome. If you're stuck right now, if you feel like you don't have a plot, start asking these kinds of questions of the story, the character yourself. Are you writing about what you want to be writing about? That may seem like a ridiculous thing to say, but it is so easy to labor uselessly in a codependent way based on what you think people want to hear from you?"
