The Desirable Difficulties in the Challenge Framework Application to Coaching
The notion of desirable difficulties is really well encaptilated in one of the later chapters on the challenge point framework, in the theory section. And i think it provides a really nice philosophy for thinking about practice design instruction. It underscores this idea that learning is stimulated when there's new information environment. So you need some uncertainty, some new information, which is basically a some kind of error between what you expect and what you get. If everything meets your expectations, then there's no new learning to take place. The prediction error is a fundamental part of learning.
