The protagonist of the novel is not supposed to be me, but he's very much informed by this kind of process that I went through. What I really wanted to do with this novel was to show the importance of simple, simple acts of love and kindness. In these polarized times, you know, I've seen so many people just pitted against each other and just beating each other up rather than tearing each other apart.
