Ursula Mitvok worked on sex determination for a long time at UCL. She linked it to growth rates, because there's all these different types of chromosomal sex determination and you know, X and Y chromosomes are only a part of it. And effectively what the Y chromosome is doing is activating some growth factors that say, you know, go ahead and grow quickly.
