What Is a Sand Dunes?

In the public imagination we tend to think about deserts immediately as sand dunes. The majority of desert areas are not sand seas, says Dr Andreas Bass from King's College London. Deserts don't have to be sandy - they can be rocky, gravelly or even snowy. They just have to have less than 25 centimeters of rainfall per year.
