Whether or not you throw a stronger weaker sense of anti intellectualism into that blender depends on what group we're talking about. Some issues don't rise in salience like this and so there might not even be signals from opinion leaders. And then in that case, you kind of you adopt your feelings about experts might matter even more which might be independent of ideological concerns. It's just a fundamental part of human cognition where you because of your social identity, you're motivated to protect it to reinforce your prior beliefs.
