How to Increase Your Knee Load

The cumulative loads of a walk for a given distance at the knee can be on par with the cumulative loads at the knee for the same distance with running. To cover the same distance, if you're going for, let's say, a five kilometer walk, which is a quite long walk, then you will need a lot more steps than if you're running that five kilometers. So, walking versus running, the cumulative load will not be that different. However, clinically, my approach with runners, with OA, is to try and get them to load their knee joint a little bit more repetitions that have less load at a time - especially if your joint is irritated.
