The Importance of Being Aware of Life

I just think having her feel like this constant life slicing through the close mindedness of the era is a really fascinating point of view to offer. I'm four and a half months old and my father dies in a plane crash. So we drive to California together to have a new life. She's going to teach school, then she hooks up with a guy who was from her high school college past that knew my father too. And he turns out to be a very bad guy. But watching her and seeing how she protected me and built a life for herself in spite of these difficult cards she was handed, it was even more powerful.
