Is That How You Make Beef Jerky?

We made a fire and roasted some of it to serve us during the next day. The only reason they cooked it was to make it last a little i don't know why they didn't cook all of it yet. I mean, they must have been that hungry. But even then, you would think you would want a like imean,. is that how you make beef jerky, by drying it in the sun?
