The Matter of the Eucharist
The first step is on the bottom left. We begin with what's called the matter of the sacrament. What are the material elements that are going to be used in the eucharist? The first element is bread, what i've been referring to often and showing you with a example,. There's a particular signification. Mediaeval monks were able to live on bread. How so probably it wasn't american wonder bread. They had hardier substance, sustenance to it. That's what we should think about with bread. Its giving us sustenance.Its giving us what we need in order to live and to live well.
