The Children's Crusade
i was lucky enough to be part of the group who developed this, an developed the standard model of cosmology. We didn't have any grand designs in mind, and it was a the children's crusade. There were really no senior people in the fieldwnw i'll mention one person whose work i think went a long way to legitimizing. That's stephen winbird. He wrote some of the early papers about cosmology. So even though he didn't really work very much in that area, he legitimized it.
