Episode 260: Malignant Hyperthermia with Dr. Berman
Anesthesia and Critical Care Reviews and Commentary (ACCRAC) Podcast
Introduction
The great Dr. Dave Berman is here today to talk about malignant hyperthermia. This was published in 1962 by this guy named Michael Denver who was an internal medicine doc and a geneticist. He overheard of a patient who had a TibVib fracture and was brought into the emergency department for obviously surgery for this TibFib fracture. The patient wasn't nervous about his surgery but what he was really nervous about was the anesthesia because he had 10 family members who died during or shortly after anesthesia, usually for minor procedures that were unlikely to cause death.
