The Fire in Ollie's Store
Sergeant Jack Palmer, from the arson and explosive unit of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, was designated to lead the investigation. After just 90 minutes of investigation, Sergeant Palmer suspected that an electrical shawding in the building's attic was the likely source of the fire. John Orr expressed his opinion that the Ollie's fire could have been started by a serial arsonist. He based this suspicion on several other arson fires that had occurred in the greater Los Angeles area over the past few years. Despite John Orr's theory, as Sergeant Palmer was leading the investigation, he made the final call. Much to John's disappointment, Palmer ruled the fire as accidental and the case
