CHAPTER

The Serengeti Lion Project

Mel Robbins did his PhD on strategies of animal combat at the University of New Mexico. He says he had a background in math but switched to English when he realized he didn't like it. His research focused on why animals fight and why they sometimes just pretend that they're going to fight to the death, which is settled by display and bluff. The project ultimately led him to what I do now, which is study biology of aging.
