I don't think that quite honestly that primary care physicians actually miss many diagnosis of irritable bowel. I think in fact, very often they have the right diagnosis. What I've learned over three decades at Mayo Clinic is that sometimes the cause of the symptoms of the irritable bowel has a true underlying disorder That may require much more specific treatment than what I have just mentioned on the last question.
