The Newburgh Coup
The Newburgh conspiracy was one of the early rallying points that helped to create the beginnings of our two party system. Washington says initially he's not going to go to this officer meeting and he says this is a terrible idea. And then at the last minute, he changed his mind or he wanted the element of surprise. The important part is that they have all now cried and acknowledged they're going to follow his lead.
