The Problem With Reporting and Finding and Getting News

The old media system of giant huge news organizations that cost a fortune but make a fortune advertising was actually quite a good model for reporting and getting news. The brave new world we live in of everyone with a video camera and sitting at a desk is now a star on the internet has created this vacuum into which people can just make crap up. I think this is a really big downside and it was almost inevitable. And again, looking at this funding program, I don't see any mention of we're going to give this to big media organizations so that they can fund long term intensive investigative research projects for their teams.
