The idea being, well, people are lonely and I can create this thing and they can go to it and talk to it. There is a real service that's happening but there's an unintended consequence. Even with the three laws of robotics, you can't ever program just like you can’t ever build a government or whatever else to fully account for all unintended harms. John Locke has sometimes been caricatured as being this atomistic individualist. When in fact, he says that even in a state of nature, God knew it was not good for us to be alone.
