Antonio L.A. Reed and Kenneth Babyface Edmonds were the premier purveyors of crossover R&B in Atlanta. The duo formed their own Motown-like label called LaFace Records at the turn of the 90s. They made hip hop and new jack swing more viable for pop audiences. It was Pebels, aka Perry Reed, who discovered the trio TLC.
