Constant on Liberty
Talking Politics: HISTORY OF IDEAS
00:00
Introduction
David discusses benjamin constant's idea of liberty in the modern world. The two authors i have talked about so far might be surprised to discover that they are mainly remembered now as political thinkers. Mary wolstoncraft would probably have described herself as an educator, and actually as much more about education in a vindication of the rights of woman, than there is about what we would call politics. In his own lifetime he did so much more than just think about politics. And he wrote about art. He wrote about religion. He wrote on culture. He wrote novels. I'm going to talk about one of those novels later on.
