The Poker Boom
In the early 2000s, a boom hit the poker world and it brought a tsunami of money. The winner of the World Series of Poker Main Event was paid $1 million every year from 1991 to 1999. Starting in 2000, that number increased every year until it peaked in 2006 when Jamie Gold won 12 million. I asked Barry how this all affected him, and he said that he was already playing for very high stakes by then.
