The Potential of States
I was wondering if you could talk about collective power, thinking about the balance between the collective powers of citizens and individual rights. Well, there are a number of different ways in which people down the ages have argued for a normative result on the basis of as a way of functional restrictions. And I say that in the name of its function, there is no reason to think that the state should be limited by natural rights. For example, I don't think the economy is self regulating. It depends on every side on what the state in the form of the government of the time is actually doing.
