Deep Time: A Geological Perspective
Geology as a discipline has been almost too successful in inculcating people with the idea that the earth is so old and so slow. And so what I've tried to do in my writing is convey the sense that we too live in geologic time. Yes, the earth is very old, but it's still in process. It's a dynamic place that does have many tempos. Most of them, thank goodness, are slow from a human perspective, so there's plenty of time for us to adapt.
