telomeres are these sort of caps on the end of your DNA and every time a cell divides there's actually this bizarre flaw in our biology. People who've been exposed to very stressful childhoods or stressful situations do seem to get shorter telomeres as their lives wear on so it could be that there's some causal relationship with the aging process There is almost certainly no compelling evidence for stress being an indicator of age related disease but I think we just don't know enough about this stuff.
