John Crawley's Story
John Crawley was sent to St. Dominic's home where he spent three years before returning home. He hated school and immediately began to play hooky. In 1921, a group of men including John Crawley shot and killed a man named James L. Hayes. The others in the group were arrested while John managed to slip away from the scene. Even though he got off on murder charges, he was sent to New York State Reformatory in Elmyra for parole violation.
