The rit was complicated and involved arts unknown except to the wisest and oldest grannies. Every seven years, a grave would burth death in the shape of a woman and a babe. The first thing that men called skin took the form of a floating black mist. If it had been a man, he would have feltthe dread and cold that poured from that floating shadow if he dared to meet the gleaming green eyes that floated within it.
