Nel used to berate uncle thomas by now with her cousin for protection. When he would beckon me over, i would scowl at him and claim that he smelled or that he made my eyes sore. I even went as far as to ignore his greeting hugs, which are customary when greeting in my family. Nel says: "I'm a very spicy woman. So everyone thought that it was all in good fun"
