And since the book itself is called Out of the Silent Planet, I think Lewis is trying to use these words to trick our brains into starting to feel this silence and isolation even without realizing it. He's absolutely setting a tone here. We're going to learn a ton more as the book goes on,. particularly in the last chapter we're going to learning our last couple about why are we the silent planet? How is that related to what are these other planets for silent, what are they like?
