Most of my colleagues think that brains cause consciousness. My answer is neurons do not even exist when they're not perceived. Neurons have no causal powers. They cause none of our conscious experiences. So your question is, what is consciousness? Where is consciousness? Well, it's not something inside space-time, because space-time itself is not fundamental.
