Since the 80s BPD was still thought about as untreatable even by clinicians for the most part. Marshall Linnahan, who's the founder of dialectical behavioral therapy or DBT started publishing major well designed trials in the early 90s that showed a treatment actually works. We have treatments that work significantly they're available, but sometimes in certain regions of this country they're really hard to find and we do know there isn't enough to go around.
