The Impact of Time Travel on Design

The notion of magical artifacts from the future is the key element of this process that I've written down called presumptive design. We are so comfortable interpreting artifacts from the past that we have no problem looking at those and agreeing that they're degraded through time. And it occurred to me, even as I was working on this topic, on this talk, that those were the attributes that Charles Lambden and I talk about with respect to these artifacts from thefuture. Now the key difference was, and I didn't have a chance to mention this in the talk, is that we believe the past is concrete and anchored. It's the cantalterate because it's done.
