We are all brought up to be energetic, that is to say, to use force. And any one who isn't using force in school is reported on by the teachers as lacking aggression and not being upstanding. This is really very weird. I adsure you, in thinking about human affairs, always call common sense in question. It is the most creative path in philosophy. Take ideas which are commonly accepted and which seem to be incontrovertible and ask them if they can be thought of another way. The past doesn't cause the present, unless you insist that it does.
