Since you and i were born, planes do not go from new york to california any faster. The transport innovations didn't happen, but the computing and communication ones were amazing. And it might be that the next 50 is is all about biotechnology or something else. I've lived through a period in which the seven, four seven has only just retired after 50 years of operation. That's exactly the wrong way round.
