The game does a great job of making you feel not incompetent when you don't hit it on the beat, but just so much better when you do. The voice acting is severely underrated in that game. It'll let you detect whether or not you have an input lag or like visual discrepancy between what you see and what your eyes are seeing. There's no way to actually adjust, which was incredibly frustrating.
