The gag rule is meant to minimize defensiveness on the part of the author and prevent them from explaining things that weren't in the story. In a lot of writing groups, i think they practise the same rules. I'm curious if you've seen it in she writes writing groups. You know, one of the things i think is very dangerous about the gag rule is how much other people project on to you. And especially in memoiran memoir groups. Mean, i've heard people report back to me that people have told them that their story is not believe, when, in fact, it completely happened. It can really just exasperate that.
