Vias Code vs Nova?

I like nova for some things, but i mostly want plain text. I've been told to use nova, buti don't need to. What is the difference between vias code and nova? Is it just the integrations or sort of the way you want to do something? And b b ettit is pretty geeky and ot of ways, but all that geekiness is exposed in a way that is understandable enough.
