Introduction

Chinese biophysicist Hu Jang Kui caused international outrage. He used the gene-editing tool known as CRISPR-Cas9 to edit genomes of two human embryos. Now, out of prison and working for a company in Beijing, he has been speaking in public. At an open bioethics event at the University of Kent last weekend, organizers invited him to present his research. But he was reluctant to answer questions about his past experiments or future plans.
