The Impact of Licensing on Design

I've found myself more and more reflecting on the idea of licensing or registering designers. It's becoming hugely important for designers to consider what impact will this have if thousands, even millions of people are using this service. I like the fact that self-taught people exist in our industry because it's such a young industry still. But at the same time, things are making me feel more and more that you can die if you make bad design decisions.
