The Default Mode Network Is a Neural Representation of the Quote Unquote Model
I love that you brought up the default mode network because I feel like that is a brain system that comes up a lot in contemplative space and also in cognitive science. At every level of neural representation there's modeling happening, things only get sent further up the chain if the neural level gets surprised as part of the sort of pre-coding models. And it leads to some interesting implications when we know that soft referential thought is one of the few, you know, explicit tasks that will fire up the default Mode Network.
