The Crimea Invasion
The first day of the invasion in Ukraine was marked by emotional scenes. The police response to that protest was, you know, fairly mild. There's a law that allows to convert a fine or ten days of administrative arrest into an actual prison sentence if you've been caught ad unsanctioned protests three times. So the risks for protesting are very real.
