Relations with the chiefs of staff are another very interesting thing, which has a lot of historical parallels. Did you feel the hand of history on your shoulder in your relations with them? I certainly thought about how Churchill handled the chiefs of Staff and the debates and arguments. It was important because particularly with the Libya conflict, I soon found out that it's not enough for the prime to just sort of set the strategy,. Which is what they want.
